
What Do HHAs Do?
HHAs generally assists patients who are suffering from a degenerative disease, age-related health conditions, disabilities, and other issues in performing self-care tasks and daily activities. They work under the supervision of a registered nurse, a CNA, a nursing aid, and other in-home healthcare professionals. HHAs also perform the following tasks:
- Bathing
- Dressing and undressing
- Toileting
- Maintaining good hygiene and proper grooming
- Checking vital signs
- General light housekeeping
- Transportation arrangements
- Organizing patient’s schedule and plan appointments
- Monitoring the patient’s current health condition or status
- keeping up with in-service training
What Are the Requirements?
For all interested applicants, you must comply with the following prerequisites:
- Proven working experience as a home health aide
- Must know how to monitor vital signs and collect specimens
- Familiarity with basic nutrition and personal hygiene standards
- Proficiency in English
- Nursing and health care administration skills
- Caring and compassionate personality
- Current CPR and BLS certificate
- First Aid training
- Valid driver’s license
- High school degree
