What Do RNs Do?
The primary role of a registered nurse is to assist the physician in taking care of a patient and providing them with appropriate treatment in various medical settings. Specifically, the duties and responsibilities of an RN—registered nurse—are the following:
- Implements the physician’s orders
- Administer medication and treatments
- Assess and evaluate the patient’s needs and responses to the given care.
- Monitor, record, and report the patient’s condition or health status
- Observing reactions or side effects of the treatment or medication
- Perform diagnostic tests
- Prescribe assistive medical devices
- Administers IV therapy
- Modify patient’s health treatment plans as indicated by the patient’s condition and responses
- Deliver primary and emergency care for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses
What Are the Requirements?
For all interested applicants, you must comply with the following prerequisites:
- Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in nursing
- California Board of Registered Nursing Passer
- Current, valid, and unrestricted Registered Nurse license issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing
- American Heart Association BLS/CPR
- ACLS certified
- Basic computer skills
- Must present a professional and positive attitude towards career
